As the little acorn grows into something mighty, so did Zeus for whom the acorn was a symbol per Celtic lore. In Greek mythology, Zeus was hidden from his cruel father as a babe for his survival, but in adulthood, Zeus returned to overturn his father. In doing so, he rose to become the mighty king of heaven and Earth and of all the Olympian gods. The humble fruit of the oak represents growth. In this door knocker, the artist not only recreated the acorn's perfect smoothness, but the intricate criss-cross pattern of its cap.
